LandedLlama U.S. import estimate preparation checklist Reviewed October 5, 2026 Prepare one product line at a time. Keep unknowns visible and attach the evidence behind each input before comparing prices or using an estimate. Product and classification [ ] Product description, function, materials, construction and technical sheet. [ ] Candidate U.S. HTS code, relevant notes and broker confirmation; ruling reference if applicable. Origin and preferences [ ] Actual manufacturing origin, recorded separately from shipping country. [ ] Evidence for any trade-preference claim; identify unresolved eligibility questions. Value and quantity [ ] Total customs value of the goods covered, with valuation adjustments documented. [ ] Invoice and separately identified freight/insurance charges; do not assume FOB equals final customs value. [ ] Required units and quantities for this tariff line; distinguish goods weight from freight chargeable weight. Entry and transport [ ] Planned entry date and transport mode, including whether the estimate assumptions match the broker quote. [ ] Importer of record and broker responsibilities; quote scope and validity. Reconcile the estimate [ ] Finish all inputs, then press Calculate manually. [ ] Save the total, lines, tariff release, sources and warnings together. [ ] Mark unknown amounts as unresolved; budget unmodeled AD/CVD exposure and other contingencies separately. [ ] Add freight, insurance, brokerage and logistics only once; confirm the final entry with the broker. This is a preparation aid, not a customs filing, classification ruling or certificate of origin. It does not replace product-specific due diligence. https://landedllama.com/methodology https://landedllama.com
